Establishment
The Center of Excellence for Medical Multimedia (CEMM) was established in 1996 with the support and direction of the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General. The CEMM has a long history of product development with local filming and IT contractors, resulting in the production of cutting-edge multimedia programs and products. The CEMM is an Air and Education Training Command asset and resides on the United States Air Force Academy as a tenant unit.
Background
The CEMM’s aim is to supply the most powerful, interactive medical multimedia technologies available to the AF and greater DoD. The overarching goal of the CEMM is to fortify and strengthen the AFMS strategic goals of “Readiness,” “Better Care,” and “Better Health” offered at the “Best Value.” These advanced multimedia programs and products serve to bridge crucial patient and provider education and/or training gaps that will improve care and the overall population health of military beneficiaries. Our patient directed multimedia programs make highly complex medical topics simple and interesting for patients of all ages and educational backgrounds. They also integrate prevention and self-management into everyday clinical practices to complement and support the efforts of military health professionals in caring for patients.
The CEMM is also focused on developing resilient Airmen who can readily meet the personal and professional challenges inherent to military service. In the pursuit of creating more comprehensively fit Airmen, the CEMM is dedicated to the creation of military training platforms that deploy state-of-the-art learning concepts which leverage new and emerging technologies.
The CEMM’s current capabilities include video production, web development, mobile application development, graphic design, 3D computer animation and modeling, and fixed media design and development. All CEMM products (over 100) are available for order by military healthcare providers on CEMM.org and are free to the DoD.
